Interesting places in Penang ( Pulau Pinang): Bukit Bendera ( Penang Hill)
The most interesting and famous place in Penang is definitely Bukit Bendera. It is not valid if you come here but do not visit Bukit Bendera. This hill is famous with foreign tourists. In English it is known as Penang Hill. There is also another name which is Flagstaff Hill.
Bukit Bendera, which is located approximately 735m or 2450 feet above sea level, has a relatively cool and comfortable temperature compared to the flat land below. According to Wikipedia, the average temperature up there is 21 to 27 degrees Celsius, with the coldest month is between June to October and slightly higher in December to April.
It gets colder in the late afternoon and the temperature continues to drop after dusk. So for all of you who bring small children, make sure you bring a slightly thicker shirt or a warm shirt!
The distance from the city center of Georgetown is about 6km which is the place where the Jalan2cuti2 crew stays, it seems close right? But don’t be fooled, Penang is full of traffic lights and one-way streets. So you will definitely get lost and detoured before reaching the foot or Bukit Bendera station! Coupled with hourly traffic all the way and another 2km before reaching Bukit Bendera station!
So, the 6km trip took 1 and a half hours before we reached Bukit Bendera. That’s not yet queuing to buy a 1 hour ++ ticket, waiting to get on the train for over 1 hour (the queue was as long as 2 times the train arrived up)
Jalan2cuti2 Tips: To avoid congestion and suffering from traffic jams, come to Bukit Bendera early in the morning, don’t wait until midday…ahakkss
Alas, it took a long time to wait for the ‘turn’ to get on the train, thank god our little one understood and didn’t get angry ![🙂]()
If we look at the picture above, there are many tourists who are waiting for their ‘turn’ to board the Bukit Bandera train, especially during the school holidays, so the services of RELA officers are needed. Whatever their services are, they are very much needed and we people feel and can see for ourselves that the presence of RELA really helps the visitors a lot. Well done to RELA who has a lot of patience with the crowd

It’s another 2km to get to Bukit Bendera, the congestion getting longer every hour passed…
The new unmanned and sophisticated Bukit Bendera train is just like taking the LRT, it comes every 30 minutes, but there are too many people so we can only get on after 2 train trips until
Poor this little one, he was changed into dry clothes because his clothes were wet and sweaty waiting for the train to arrive
Congestion at the Bukit Bendera Railway ticket counter, but thank God the system is quite organized and there are not many problems. When we were there, the station was undergoing ‘renovation’ work.
This is a display on the control ‘cockpit’ of the train, sophisticated and controlled by a computerized SIS system
In the end, being tired is worth it when you can reach the top of Bukit Bendera and enjoy the view around Penang, and Seberang Perai on the other side of the sea. We got there late in the afternoon but thank God we had time to pray.
Above photo : The brother and his little bro are happy! When you get to the top of Bukit Bendera. The relief. All the tiredness of waiting down there is gone, now on the top, the sweat dries quickly because of the slightly cold air
Among the attractions found here are souvenir shops such as clothes, cafes and stalls in 20 units, the Owl Museum, a long ‘buggy’ ride around the slopes of Bukit Bendera. The food and drinks sold here at Cliff Cafe ( the food court ) are also reasonably priced, there are fried noodles, fried rice, tomyam, hot water, cold water and many more. The last time of the Bukit Bendera train is 9 pm.
In the end, a breathtaking view in the midst of fresh cool temperature, crispy, fresh mountain air with jungle surrounding the mountain the way up to peak of Penang Hill
